Similar model shown on p. 98 and 99 Built between 1934 and 1936, the Sanatorium Martel de Janville under the direction of architects Pol Abraham and Henry-Jacques Le Même was one of the great modernist adventures of the 1930s. Decorator Jules Leleu was chosen to design the functional furniture, which would become one of the first examples of mass-produced metal furniture thanks to Jean Prouvé's workshops. With its functional, hygienic design, use of sheet metal and revolutionary choice of simple red lacquer, this furniture, the result of a collaboration between one of the great designers of Art Deco and one of the pioneers of metal, was one of the most modern of its time.
