China Qing dynasty, 19th century Blue-white porcelain planter containing a Taihu-type scholar's rock carved in amethyst, a second smaller scholar's rock in lapis lazuli, and a small seated Buddha statuette in pale celadon jade, on a dark wood background covering the porcelain decorated on the outside with lotus scrolls, between two friezes on the rim and foot (spirals and leiwen). H. 21.5 cm total LM Provenance : Collection of a French family The porcelain shows surface wear and a small restoration at the foot. Two restored parts at the base of the amethyst.
