FRANCE, 18th century - Lot 12
FRANCE, 18th century Ivory crucifix with "Cristo Vivo" Christ figure Ivory figure mounted on a gilded wooden cross applied to a red velvet panel, in a Baroque-style frame of molded and gilded wood decorated with foliage. Statuette height: 26 cm - Total height: 67 cm - Total width: 40 cm LJ Gross weight : 1 964 g Missing fingers This "Cristo Vivo" was made in France in the 18th century. It displays all the typological indicators of this period: the expression of pain on the face with parted lips and frowning eyebrows, the locks of hair falling over the shoulders, and the feet placed side by side. The attitude and the perizonium, with its prominent folds held in place by a double cord, are similar to a Christ on the Cross in the Musée d'art et d'histoire Alfred Douët (see related work).
