In the late 1900s and early 1910s, Károly Ferenczy developed a passion for the still-life genre. He depicted flowering porcelain planters, statuettes, tables set with elaborate crockery and birds in china.
We can relate this work to a similar subject, "Parrots in china porcelain", to name but one, reproduced in cat no. 301, p.254 in Ferenczy Károly, Judit Boros, Gábor Bellák (1862-1917), retrospective exhibition held at the Hungarian National Gallery (Magyar Nemzeti Galéria), from November 30, 2011 to May 27, 2012.
