ZOLA (Émile). L'ARGENT. Paris, Bibliothèque-Charpentier, 189 - Lot 72
ZOLA (Émile). L'ARGENT. Paris, Bibliothèque-Charpentier, 1891. In-8, cherry half-maroquin with corners, ribbed spine, gilt head, cover and spine, untrimmed (Moscovitz). ORIGINAL EDITION. One of 250 numbered copies on Hollande enriched with a visiting card from the author with a handwritten letter signed by Zola: "Merci, mon bon ami, pour les notes sur la rue St Lazare, que j'utiliseai. - For the Busuach affair, I need to go to Paris, which will only be around July 10. Please be patient. This morning I finally wrote the first four pages of the money. Now all I have to do is write as many pages every day for six or seven months. Yours affectionately Émile Zola". Card probably addressed to the publisher Fasquelle (handwritten indication in pencil), in which Busuach is mentioned, the librettist who had some of the plays from the main Rougon-Macquart novels performed. Slight rubbing, otherwise a fine copy with large witnesses. Provenances: From the Marcel Silvain and Lucien Graux libraries, with their bookplates.
