China 1st half 20th century Pair of guanmaoyi "scholar's cap" back chairs in brown lacquered wood, the center of the back carved with scholar's objects (vases with flowering branches, scroll, ruyi scepter, sword, fan, etc.) in a round medallion, under the seat the apron with openwork leiwen decoration on the front, and simply lobed on the sides, the square legs connected by three crosspieces and a footrest.
