CORIOLIS, abbé Honoré-Gaspard de. - - Lot 34
CORIOLIS, abbé Honoré-Gaspard de. -
Traité sur l'administration du Comté de Provence.
Aix, veuve Audibert, then P.-J. Calmen, 1786-1788. 2 volumes (out of 3) in-4°, half-brown basane with small corners, smooth spine decorated with gilded fillets, havana title page, straw-colored speckled edges (Binding of the period). Quérard, II, 288. First edition.
Volumes I and II were published by Augustin Audibert's widow, the third, which is missing here, by Pierre-Joseph Calmen. A planned volume IV was never printed. The Aix-based abbé Gaspard-Honoré de Coriolis (1735-1824), originally a Jesuit, was a member of the Provence Court of Auditors. Ex libris. Damage to lower head, slight loss of skin at hinge of volume II, otherwise in good condition, interior very fresh. A note on the title page states that this book came from the library of Philippe Antoine Bleu[?], lawyer for the city of Digne, and his signature appears on the title along with another. Numerous subjects covered, specified in the tables.
