In-4°, bottle-green morocco, first plate decorated with gilded fillets depicting Gargantua's profile, enhanced with ivory chagrin and cold fillets, interior framing, ivory silk lining and endpapers, double guard, smooth spine, gilded head, cover and spine, decorated and bordered slipcase(L. Houades).
140 original woodcuts by CH.-E. PINSON. Edition of 1020 copies on B. F. K. de Rives, this one no. 17, printed especially for G.F. Dussud. Spine partly lightened, otherwise a fine copy, finely bound by Léone Houades, Paris bookbinder from 1943 to 1945 (Fléty, p. 92).
