China, 1st half 20th century Pair of wooden armchairs with scholar's cap backs, guanmaoyi, the crosspiece at the top of the back ending on both sides in a dragon's head, the back made of two curved uprights and a vertical S-shaped panel with a central cartouche carved with a bird on a branch or a flowering shrub, Rectangular wooden seat, curved armrests, lobed and molded apron at the front, legs linked by a crossbar at the back, two crossbars on the ribs and a footrest at the front. H. 118 cm; L. 59.5 cm The dark lacquer is worn in places, with chips. [2]
