FABRICS AND EMBROIDERIES Set of embroidered orfrois, Venice (?), 15th century, band and truncated back cross in raspberry taffeta embroidered in polychrome silk split-stitch and majolica stitch, with gold and silver thread on the couching, linen background. Decorated with saintly figures and Christ emerging from his tomb, set in architectural niches topped by a dome and pinnacles. Lined with crepinette, (gaps and wear, partly restored), 113 x 16 cm. and 80 x 44 cm.
