IRAN, 19th-20th centuries Illuminated Koran Lithographed Arabic book printed on paper, 19 lines per page in blue and gold frames. Double frontispiece illuminated with gouache and gilt, and handwritten Sura titles in red on gilt. Bound in painted and varnished papier-mâché, decorated with floral scrolls around a central mandorla, and bordered with epigraphic cartouches (binding very damaged, pages missing at end, wear, small tears, wetness). H. 16 cm - W. 10.5 cm - D. 2 cm Enclosed is a printed book titled "Le Koran" on the spine, including excerpts from the Suras in French, ornamentation designed by Mohammed Racim, Editions d'art H. Piazza, Paris, 1949. Bound in green half-maroquin with gilt title. H. 16 cm - W. 11 cm - D. 2 cm LS
