Warmly colored satire of eroticism composed by Mirabeau to distract his loneliness when he was detained in the Bastille from 1777 to 1781; it is followed by an epistle to the famous dancer Mademoiselle Guimard, probably the pamphlet's addressee. (Gay I, 571).
Provenance: Charles de Mandre (1805-1875) (Arms on boards and bookplate). (No. 312 of his catalog, 1887, with a L.A.S. not present here).
