Second edition, published the same year as the original, of one of Restif's most famous novels: it is decorated with 2 frontispieces, 2 medallion portraits on the titles representing the author's father and mother, and 12 unsigned engravings illustrating moral values. Many rings, small repair on p. 17 of volume 1. A very good copy bound by Louis Pouillet, established circa 1870 in Paris (Rives-Childs, p. 249). First edition and first print run of the 20 very fine, unsigned and uncaptioned engravings, placed in this copy in the correct order.
