Joseph FELON (1818-1896) The Entry of Louis XI into Toulouse, May 25, 1462 Large oil on canvas, signed and dated 1865 lower right H. 293 cm L. 233 cm approx. Wear, holes on edges, pieces on back and missing parts Exhibition: Probably Paris, Salon de 1865, N°806 ("Le roi jure de garder les coutumes, franchises et privilèges de la ville et de la comté de Toulouse"). The work is related to a stained glass window by the glass painter Victor GESTA (1828-1894), presented at the 1867 Exposition Universelle and documented by a print (Toulouse, Archives municipales, code 45Fi118).
