Fang-style mask, Gabon - Lot 182
Fang-style mask, Gabon
Wood, kaolin and pigments
An austere, severe air emanates from this work, accentuated by the pleated, barely open, finely incised eyes and the wide, elongated mouth, rigid and strict. The slightly raised, triangular nose is linked to the superciliary arches, enhanced with dark brown pigments.
