Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912) Tanto (dagger) in a brown lacquer saya decorated in very light relief with waves and cherry blossoms and gold kirikane, the handle (tsuka) laced in beige with silver menuki in the shape of a cherry blossom, fuchi-kashira, kojiri (tassel) and kurigata (cord loop) in shibuichi with partly gilded and gold-inlaid decoration of cherry blossom branches above a river, kogatana signed Munetsugu (宗次) with shakudo kozuka with gilded copper-inlaid decoration of cherry blossoms. L. 38.5 cm Good condition.
