Small in-12 of [4]-100-[4]-35 pages, old red long-grained morocco, fleur-de-lys at the corners and gilt lace framing the boards, smooth fleur-de-lys spine, gilt edges (period binding). Second edition of this study written in the hand of the dauphin Louis-Auguste, future Louis XVI, in 1766. One of only a few copies printed on pink velin paper, decorated with two engraved portraits printed in bistre; the first of Louis XVI and the second of Fénelon by Charles, and a fold-out facsimile of Louis XVI's handwriting.
