Bible based on the Olivétan translation (1506-1538) with a preface and notes by Th. de Bèze. This is the first French translation based on the original Hebrew (for the Old Testament) and Greek (for the New Testament) texts. It is illustrated with several in-text woodcuts, as well as a title page in the center of a portico with the Virgin Mary on the left and a saint reading on the right. The printing of this text was made possible by the 1598 Edict of Nantes, which authorized the distribution of Reformed books in the only strongholds granted to Protestants (La Rochelle, Cognac, Montauban and La Charité sur Loire). With preface by Théodore de Bèze "À tous vrais amateurs de la vérité de Dieu". Published with the "Pseaumes de David" in the Marot-Bèze version, which has its own dated title page. Repair to one leaf with loss of a few words.
