Japan, 19th century Bokuto in lacquered wood imitating a wakizashi, the gold-lacquered handle inlaid on each side with a metal bird-shaped menuki on a bucket attached to a stick, the "frame" decorated with a tree motif in raised brown lacquer and inlaid with coral, malachite and a small copper oni mask, with a genuine removable kozuka with lacquered feline decoration on the handle, a gilded lacquer inscription hidden by the kozuka "Great Japan tea measure (or spoon)".
