[DELACROIX, Eugène]. Copy of a letter [in Paul Huet's hand?] - Lot 170
[DELACROIX, Eugène]. Copy of a letter [in Paul Huet's hand?] addressed to David D'Angers, "Statuaire". S.l., November 23 [?]. 1 p. in-4. Address on verso of second leaf. Paper slightly browned.
In this copied letter, Delacroix addressed the painter Paul Huet to David d'Angers.
"[...] You are good enough to excuse me for not having taken greater advantage of all your complaisance towards me. But the devil of a painting still requires so much work that I shudder at what remains to be done. He then recommends the painter Paul Huet (1803-1869), a victim of "blatant" abuse, and "who didn't need this to be appreciated by you".
An interesting document. A pupil of Pierre Narcisse Guérin and Baron Gros between 1818 and 1822, Paul Huet became a close friend of Eugène Delacroix. MLL
