AGUESSEAU (Henri-François). OEUVRES. Paris, les libraires as - Lot 2

AGUESSEAU (Henri-François). OEUVRES. Paris, les libraires associés, 1759-89. 13 volumes in-4°, speckled calf, spine ribbed and decorated (later binding). Partly first collective edition of the works of the Regent's famous chancellor, dedicated to Guillaume de Lamoignon and published by Abbé André, his librarian. It is illustrated with a title vignette, a band with the dedicatee's coat of arms engraved by Paté and a portrait of d'Aguesseau aged 36 engraved by Jean Daullé in 1761 after a painting by Vivien. The spines of the last 4 volumes are slightly different, but a very good copy. Provenance: Armorial bookplate of the Sarthe Guillebon de Montmirail family with the initials GDM on the first 4 volumes. ED
