The Peruzzi family, originally from Tuscany, is a Florentine lineage from the Middle Ages. Active from the 12th century onwards, the Peruzzi distinguished themselves through their banking and trading activities, becoming one of the richest and most influential families in Europe. They financed sovereigns and popes, and their commercial network extended across the continent. Their wealth enabled them to support artists and architectural projects, leaving a lasting legacy in Florence. The Peruzzi chapel in Santa Croce church, painted by Giotto, remains a testament to their power and patronage. Involved in the Pazzi conspiracy, several members were forced into exile. Some allied themselves with the de Berluc-Pérussis family, a French branch (sources Wikipedia).
