FABERGE, attributed to Parasol with green jade beak, pink enameled gold ring set with a semi-circle of rose-cut diamonds between two lines of roses on a silver frame; the shaft marked "Dupuy Paris" and numbered 8, the cover in cream-colored silk, alternating ribbed and satin materials, green topstitching, eight-ribbed frame. Late 19th - early 20th century L. 95.5 cm BL Accidents to the enamel Provenance: French ambassador to the Russian court, close friend of Nicolas II, one of the promoters of the Franco-Russian alliance (Nicolas II and Félix Faure) The Maison Dupuy, located at 8 rue de la Paix in Paris, was renowned for its design of feminine accessories, and more particularly for its beautifully crafted parasols. Active from the late 19th century to the 1930s, Maison Dupuy enjoyed great success, its parasols being coveted from St. Petersburg to New York. While several of Dupuy's parasols are kept at the Palais Galliera in Paris, our example can be compared with a parasol made by Dupuy and Fabergé and offered by Sotheby's in New York at the sale "Important European Silver, Vertu, And Russian Works Of Art" on April 16, 2015 under number 36.
