THARAUD (Jérôme and Jean). LA FETE ARABE. - Lot 122
THARAUD (Jérôme and Jean). LA FETE ARABE.
Paris, Lapina, 1926.
2 vol. in-8, navy blue morocco, raised boards framed with an azure fillet and adorned with gilded Arabic motifs, smooth spine adorned in the same manner with 4 azure fleurons, gilt head, cover and spine for the text volume, and navy blue half-maroquin folder for the rest, edged slipcase (Au Poinçon d'Or).
A brilliant work illustrated with 32 color compositions by André Sureda, of whom this is one of the most successful. These engravings were interpreted by Aubert, who composed the gilded or silvered initials. This is the first illustrated edition.
Edition of 400 copies, this one of 35 numbered on Arches vellum with a suite of colored woodcuts on Japon Impérial. A very fine, nicely established copy.
