Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912) Pair of small cylindrical vases in Satsuma earthenware, decorated with a thousand-flower motif on the shoulder, and on the body with various strolling figures (samurai, courtesans, peasants, badge bearers, etc.) under long wisteria, "Hozan zo" (Made by Hozan) marks in a black rectangular cartouche on the base, under the Shimazu clan coat of arms.
