(1528). DATI (Agostino). ELEGANTIE AUGUSTINI DATHI SENENSIS OPUSCULUM IN ELEGANTIARUM PRECEPTA. CUM JODOCI CLICHTOVE. ET JODOCI BADII ASCENSII COMMENTARII.
Lyon, Jacques Myt, February 25, 1508, colophon, title dated 1528.
In-8 gothic folio of 112 leaves, brown calf, cold framing on the boards with gilded flowers at the corners (modern binding).
Agostino Dati (1420-1478), philosopher, theologian, historian, linguist and professor in Siena, opened a school of rhetoric in Siena, where he gave lectures illustrating the works of the classical poets. His manual of rhetoric, first published in 1470, contains in this Lyon edition - which appears to be unknown - the commentaries of Josse Clichtove and Josse Badius, illustrated with 7 woodcuts in the text, 1 of which is repeated. Title consolidated with its red and green painted frame, st. leaves restored, marginal handwritten annotations.
