In-folio of [15 (of 16)]-281 leaves, half-velin with corners (19th century binding). ORIGINAL EDITION OF THE FIRST FRENCH TRANSLATION by Claude de Seyssel from the Latin text given by Laurent Valla. The famous bishop of Marseille offered his work to Louis XII, and the translation remained in manuscript in the royal library for a long time. It was by order of François 1er that his secretary Jacques Colin published it in 1527. Elegant publication by Josse Bade, printed in round letters and embellished with numerous sifted-ground initials.
