(1502). SAINT BONAVENTURE. DIETA SALUTIS. - Lot 33
(1502). SAINT BONAVENTURE. DIETA SALUTIS. Paris, Denis Roce, February 7, 1502. In-12 gothic of 152-1bl. leaves, some unencrypted, stiff vellum (period binding). Born in Italy as Giovanni da Fidanza, Saint Bonaventure died in Lyon in 1274. A popular and influential treatise on virtues and vices, the "Dieta Salutis" deals with spirituality, emphasizing discipline and stressing the importance of meditation; it guides the reader through the stages of purification, illumination and union with God. This handsome Gothic edition, unlisted in Denis Croce's name, appears to be very rare. Good condition. (USTC 180051, 3 copies).
