Marsilio Ficino (1433-1499) was one of the most famous scholars of the Italian Renaissance. As a young man, he went to Bologna to study medicine and philosophy, and remained attached to the Medici court throughout his life.
This collection of letters deals with a variety of subjects (literature, medicine, astrology, books, Plato, religion...) and is addressed to scholars of the time (Pico della Mirandola, Bembo, Barbaro...). Second edition published only 2 years after the Venetian original.
Anonymous bookplate with crown of thorns (J.C.?), numerous contemporary handwritten annotations, a few stains, otherwise a very good copy. (Brunet II, 1244) (ISTC, if00155000).
