LIVRES - Lot 223
LIVRES Academia d'i Vagabondi. Active in Pigna since the 1970s, this publishing house has left us original illustrated works, printed in small numbers in hand-made frames, some bound by Alain Maini in blond basane. The etchings are by Toni Casalonga, intaglio printed by Gilles Casalonga. This publishing house marks its attachment to the Corsican language, while drawing on texts from all eras and in a variety of languages: English, Latin, French and Vietnamese. The company has given priority to craftsmanship, with a well-established division of tasks and the help of local artisans, and has maintained a unity of format, paper and illustration over the years. This original work, little known because of its limited print runs, deserves our full attention. DAVIDE. Salmu CXLIV. Traduzione di monsignore Anghjulu Giudicelli, acqua-forte di Toni Casalonga. Academaia d'i Vagabondi, Pigna, 1974. Small in-4°, 12 ff. n. c., blond basane, smooth mute spine, 3 leather fillets overlaid on boards. 5 hors-texte etchings. Mention in fine: "Printed at the Casalonga intaglio workshop in Pigna, on Rives vellum, at 60 signed and numbered copies. Plus a few artist's and collaborator's copies. Text hand-composed by Grégoire Albertini and completed on March 22, 1974 by the Gosselin printing house in L'Isula Rossa for the Academia d'i vagabondi". Copy H. -C. No. 3. AP David is the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, whose life is recounted in the two books of Samuel, as well as at the beginning of the first book of Kings and in the book of Chronicles.
