JAPAN, 19th century Smoking set consisting of a bamboo and silver pipe, a muzo-zutsu-type pipe case in bamboo wickerwork decorated in silver takamaki-e lacquer with a pine under snow and holly, signed Choei (or Chohide) in a cartouche, attached to a tobacco pouch in textile embroidered with floral motifs, the clasp in gilded and silvered metal, depicting three crabs and on the reverse a river and its rushes (signed Ichi/kazu . ?), on the cord an openwork pearl-shaped ojime decorated with gilded copper butterflies, signed Ichigyoku (or Kazugyoku).
