Its perfectly linear wooden body rises skyward, adorned with two rows of shark teeth. A veritable jewel of the Kiribati war industry, it was a response to the intra-ethnic struggles that shook this society. This weapon was as fearsome (inflicting cruel and terrible mutilation on the opponent) as it was rare. Excessively dangerous, it traditionally accompanied the wearing of braided coconut fiber armor to protect against the sharp ornamentation of these same swords. Each shark's tooth was meticulously drilled in its center for mounting.
