Ashanti doll, Ghana - Lot 249
Ashanti doll, Ghana
Wood
H. 43.5 cm
Ashanti fertility doll with stylized volumes. The neck is surmounted by a circular disc-shaped face with minimalist features. The body is cylindrical and long, with schematic arms extended horizontally. The softness of the facial features is accentuated by the finesse of the features, from the fine bridge of the nose to the delicate, slightly arched superciliary arches in slight relief. The closed coffee-bean eyes lend a gentle interiority.
