"This 1554 edition is the first of the in-folio Bibles published by Jean de Tournes, which contain some of the woodcuts from the suite of historical quadrins by Petit Bernard. There are 181 in the Old Testament, plus 11 large plates engraved expressly for in-folio Bibles... Printed in new type, this is one of Jean I's finest productions" (Cartier). Title doubled, repairs to margins of first and last leaves, a few leaves trimmed short with lack, a few spots and foxing, light stain on leaf 343, hinges worn.
