Luba, DR Congo - Lot 233
Luba, DR Congo Divination rattle on calabash. This calabash filled with seeds is topped by a beautiful female statuette serving as a handle. The face is serene and collected. The mouth is thin, the "coffee bean" eyes are surmounted by arched eyebrows that meet on a fine nose. The headdress is pulled back, and a necklace of glass beads adorns the neck. The instrument is shaken during divination rituals. Unused, it stands on its cloth base. Beautiful dark patina with nuances. Dense wood, calabash, fabric, beads, hemp. Height: 40 cm Calabash Ø: 16 cm
