Adresse au verso du second feuillet, cachet de cire rouge et marques postales de Milan et « Royaume d'Italie par Chambéry ». Petit manque de papier par bris du cachet, avec minime atteinte à un mot. Quelques pâles piqûres. Courrier entièrement en anglais. STENDHAL EN ITALIE. « My dear, I shall be in the night of 3 november at the door of the house of Mr. Chotat, at La Tour du Pin. Write to this man. I shaall [sic] spend some hours with thee at your seat of Thuélins. The 4 I shall go out for Grenoble and the 5 for Paris, were I ought to be t[he] first november. 'tis also possible that my departure from Milan being retardée I could not be at Cholat's that the 4 november at midnight […] ».
