FUSTAILLIER - BAUX (J.). De Urbe et Antiquitatibus Matiscone - Lot 170

FUSTAILLIER - BAUX (J.). De Urbe et Antiquitatibus Matisconensibus Liber - De la Ville et des Antiquités de Mâcon by J. Fustaillier translated into French by J. Baux ... published by and at the expense of N. Yemeniz. Lyon, Perrin, 1846. In-8, havana morocco, triple gilt fillet on covers, interior lace, richly decorated ribbed spine, gilt edges (Trautz Bauzonnet). Reprint imposed by Nicolas Yemeniz to correct the error on page 5: the copy specifies "familutio" (instead of famulino), an error that had been denounced by F.-Z. Collombet, which led to a compulsory recall of all copies offered by the publisher to his friends. Yemeniz subsequently had the entire work reprinted. Enriched with a handwritten letter from Yemeniz to Mr. Morel de Voleine. Fine binding. Provenance: Libraries of C. J. Louis Morel de Voleine (ex-libris) and Ferri (ex-libris with the motto "In honore et virtute").
