The kwi'fo double gong, literally meaning "fo's assistant", is a musical instrument with high symbolic, ritual and political value. The "twin bell" is one of the many regalia of royalty and powerful secret societies, invested with the magico-religious power of kè, manifested through the cult objects that support it. "Each chiefdom has a set of five to seven, of different sizes, sometimes emitting a rhythm that announces the group, sometimes a sort of spoken language. The kwi'fo is made up of two metal bells, joined by a hoop-shaped handle reinforced with fiber ties, which also acts as a handle.
