In-4° of [8]-213-[3] leaves, carmine morocco, boards decorated with a large decoration composed of a double frame decorated with gilt scrolls and fleurons, including 4 iron with bird with in the center a cartouche bearing the gilt inscription il petra/rcha on a black background, gilt and chased edges (binding of the time). Very beautiful binding executed in the 16th century, with talent and remarkable workmanship. Tammaro De Marinis cites a binding of a Petrarch of 1547 bearing the iron with bird, executed for Antonio Filareto (841) "Very careful reprint, and which, for the correction of the text, is perhaps the best of the many editions of this commentary". (Brunet). The text is printed in italic characters framed by Veluttello's commentary in Roman characters and its illustration consists of a superb title engraved in a rich Renaissance decoration, portraits of Laure and Petrarch placed in a sacred vase, a full-page map of Vaucluse and 6 small woodcuts for the Triumphs. (Brunet IV, 550).
