BOUCHET (Jean). Les Triumphes de la noble et amoureuse dame, - Lot 125
BOUCHET (Jean). Les Triumphes de la noble et amoureuse dame, et l'Art de honnestement aymer, composed by the Traverseur des voyes périlleuses. Newly printed in Paris. Paris, à l'enseigne S. Nicolas by Pierre Sergent, printed on June 6, 1539 by Et. Caveiller. In-12 of [12]-390 leaves, garnet-red morocco, smooth spine decorated with 7 gilt fillets, interior scrolls, gilt edges (19th century binding). Work which knew many editions in the XVIth century and in which Jean Bouchet makes enter in an allegorical frame a true treaty of morals and theology. This "Noble Lady" is our soul which triumphs over the body! Beautiful printing in gothic typeface embellished with sifted backgrounds from the workshops of Etienne Caveiller. One leaf in old facsimile. A good copy despite small rubs on the boards. (USTC, 14858) (Brunet, I, 1162). Provenance: Arthur Brölemann Library (ex-libris).
