In-4° of [2]-14-[2]-384 pages, speckled calf, gilt fillets framing the boards, spine ornamented, marbled edges (period binding). ORIGINAL EDITION of the French translation revised by the Count of Mirabeau. This account of the shipwreck of Captain Wilson and his crew off the Pelew Islands in the western Pacific is nicely illustrated with a portrait of the captain, a large folding map and 15 plates, some of them folding, showing portraits, picturesque views and objects used by the islanders (baskets, knives, dishes, jewels...) One spine frayed, otherwise a nice and fresh copy.
