Fernand DEMARET (1924-2013), designer jeweler
Fernand Demaret is one of the main leaders of the prolific Belgian school of contemporary jewelry design.
He is part of this new generation of jewelers who, in the 1960s and 1970s, took a stand against traditional jewelry, experimenting with new forms, techniques and materials, thus creating an innovative vision of jewelry.
Considering jewelry as an art form, Fernand Demaret created in Brussels in 1961 a group called "Atelier Demaret" allowing young artists to express their creativity.
A perfect technician, grandson of a watchmaker and son of a jeweler, Fernand Demaret masters the techniques of goldsmithing, such as the age-old process of lost wax.
However, he developed a very personal repertoire of shapes and motifs: electrical circuits, space ships are all elements that characterize his futuristic style, like this necklace presented here.
