VALEROT (Guillaume). JOURNAL OF FRANCE, containing by each m - Lot 222
VALEROT (Guillaume). JOURNAL OF FRANCE, containing by each month what has happened most memorably since the origin of the Monarchy until now. Paris, Louis-Denis Delatour, Pierre Simon, 1722. In-8 of [8]-142-[14] pages, red morocco, gilt lace on the boards, spine with ornate nerves, gilt edges on marbling (period binding). Third edition dedicated to Louis XV, of this work first published in 1715, composed by the abbot Guillaume Valerot, author of the "Histoire journalière de Paris". It is a historical calendar in which the author matches almost every day of the year 1722 with a major event in history. It is followed, in the form of three columns, by an abbreviated history of the kings of France with their genealogies, and remarks on the various establishments that were made during their reigns. Small brown spots. A good copy.
