Jean Michel ATLAN (1913-1960), Poet. - Lot 84
Jean Michel ATLAN (1913-1960), Poet. Set of poetic in-8 publications from the 1940s - Des mots pour un orage, Copy N°4 on Auvergne rag, enriched with a very long and moving dedication dated January 23, 1943: "I dedicate these hermetic poems to the kind psychiatrists of the illustrious house of Saint-Anne. I add that for these kind and lucid psychiatrists I am a centripetal poet. I have been praised and incensed by very notorious literary personalities, but it never occurred to me that one day I would be able to meet a complete analyst capable of filling with "immense contents" those containers that are empty of realism, because they are exclusively psychic, such as the parabolic, the literary and poetic images that merge in the effects sought, if not in the generative or genetic causes. I would like to inform you that I aspire to become a centripetal poet, and therefore simultaneously psychic and psychophilosophical, after a consecrated success in the psychic genre. For more details and ultra-scientific skills consult the huge man currently in these walls. I spoke for the second time about reading Mahieu, precursor of mahieutics (sic). Arrested for resistance in 1942, Atlan only managed to escape deportation by feigning madness, which led to his internment in the Parisian psychiatric hospital of Sainte-Anne. These circumstances shed a whole new light on this text. Des mots pour un orage (copy N°9, self-published from an edition of 64 copies, monogrammed); -Initiation des mortes (Edition of 100 copies) - Autres soleils et autres signes (Edition at 150 copies) DV An exhibition booklet " OEuvres récentes Atlan, galerie Maeght, circa 1946 and three theatre posters are attached. Provenance : Artist's studio Collection Camille Atlan and Jacques Polieri Their estate
