[PHOTOGRAPHY] [SWITZERLAND] BISSON Frères View of Schadau Castle in Thun (Switzerland). Around 1860. Albuminized print mounted on cardboard. Bears the stamp of the Bisson brothers. 35 x 46 cm (with mounting: 43 x 55 cm). Mounting damaged. "The castle, built not far from a landing stage on the Aare at the mouth of Lake Thun, was built between 1847 and 1854 and was first owned by the Lords of Strättligen. In 1348 it passed into the hands of the de Bubenberg family and in 1638 it was renovated by Franz Ludwig von Erlach. In 1846, it became the property of the Neuchâtel banker Denis Alfred de Rougemont, who had it entirely rebuilt in a neo-gothic style until 18543. It has been the property of the city of Thun since 1925 and, together with its outbuildings and park, is listed as a cultural asset of national importance. Today it houses a gourmet restaurant and the Swiss Museum of Gastronomy. "Sources Wikipedia Expert: Damien VOUTAY
