Long, three-print, papier-mâché view. Embossed body tinted g - Lot 214
Long, three-print, papier-mâché view. Embossed body tinted green and gold. Horn rings, brass eyepiece protector. Signed on the body Leonardo Semitecolo. Italy, Venice, mid-18th century. L. 30/80 cm BP Leonardo Semitecolo was installed in Venice, at the Fondamenta dell' Osmarin (canal of Saint-Procule). Dated instruments indicate that he was active as early as 1756. Very productive and imitated, the workshop will see his horn-ringed glasses become widespread under the name of "Venetian glasses". The last eyeglass manufacturer of the Semitecolo dynasty died out in 1869.
