Charles Bloud - Lot 210
Charles Bloud Diptych azimuthal-magnetic sundial made of ivory. The whole dial is marked and then coloured black with scientific data and geometrical decorations. Side Ia: polar and equinoxial dials. Side Ib: lunar-solar calendar with moving parts. Side IIa: horizontal dial for the wire axis style; compass with paper printed with the names and latitudes of cities, analemma for the dial. Side IIb: mobile calendar for the adjustment of the analemma with perpetual calendar in the centre. Signed C Bloud in Dieppe on the underside. Dieppe, circa 1670. 7.5 cm L. - 6 cm BP Growing crack at the base. After designing this sundial, Charles Bloud declined it in many dimensions while keeping its principle. The detailed description of the previous dial thus satisfies, with a few details, the characteristics of this one. ** This batch of ivory will be the subject of a declaration in accordance with Article 2a of the Order of 16 August 2016 as amended.
