The association of these two coats of arms evokes a historical memory in which Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who became Pius II, presented Eleanor of Portugal (1434-1467) to Frederick III, the Germanic Roman Emperor, an episode represented in a fresco in the cathedral of Siena by the painter Pinturicchio, testifying to the ancestral ties between the two families. It could be a diplomatic gift between the Portuguese court and the Piccolomini family. Each cartouche holds by a ring a suspension chain connected to the ceiling light, highlighted with gadroons and foliage, also in silver, allowing the attachment of the chandelier to the ceiling. The modern chains of suspension, in metal. ROME, circa 1730 Goldsmith : Giacomo POZZI (1682-1735), master goldsmith in Rome. Son of Lorenzo POZZI born in 1682.
