CHÂTEAUNEUF (Abbé François de). DIALOGUE ON THE MUSIC OF THE ANCIENTS. Paris, Noel Pissot, 1725. In-12 of [8]-126-[5]-1bl. pages, speckled calf, spine ribbed and decorated (contemporary binding). First edition with 7 plates, one of which is folding, and prefaced by Morabin. Godfather of Voltaire, and one of the last lovers of Ninon de Lenclos. Châteauneuf composed this Dialogue on the occasion of his discovery of the Pantaleon, an instrument that its inventor Hebenstreit, had played at Ninon's house.
