Woman sitting on a bench Nayarit Culture, Western Mexico Protoclastic, 100 BC - 250 AD. Publication Centre d'art contemporain, Château de Tanlay, figure reproduced in Formes rituelles, Edition Flora, 1987 Provenance Michel Andrault Collection (1926-2020) Woman sitting on a bench, naked, with her hands folded under her chest. She wears many ornamental pastillages on her shoulders and impressive multi-row necklaces. The lower body is painted with a beautiful geometric decoration. The head is well clear of the shoulders and has a face with a short, narrow nose, underlined by a "nariguera". The sides of the face show imposing ear ornaments and at the back of the head, a beautiful hairstyle combed by repetitive engravings. Oval baking hole on the top of the skull.
